Happiness Matters
Our mission is to provide educational, social, and employment support for the Afro-Caribbean community in the UK.
We want to offer as many resources as possible to help people improve their well-being through aromatherapy and expand their knowledge.
Happiness Matters is a not-for-profit company set up in 2020 as a direct response to the Windrush scandal and Black Lives Matter movement. It is a social justice organization that aims to counter the decades of racial discrimination that Afro Caribbean communities have been subjected to. In particular, we believe there is an urgent need to address the adverse impact of the government’s ‘hostile environment’ legislation towards the Afro Caribbean communities living in some of the poorest parts of London.
What really makes us unique is that our organization is run by Caribbean people for Caribbean people and thus addresses the concerns that they have about social justice issues around race, employment, economic disparity, and human rights in a way that’s based on lived experience.
We believe the Afro Caribbean community has historically borne the brunt of living in a ‘hostile environment’ geared towards oppression, suppression, criminalization, and marginalization.
Our mission is to facilitate the achievement of happiness within our community by promoting: safe communities, employment, high standard housing, educational achievement, community building, mental and physical wellbeing, and the maximization of faith-based communities.
Our library features several informative reports that explain more about bullying, unemployment, educational gaps, housing, addiction and role model support.
